Assassins can’t just retire. Everybody knows that…

It starts with a body in a barrel. A message to veteran assassins Kodiak and The Librarian. The young woman they spared from death, trained to be one of the best in their profession, has summoned them for a final showdown. In Melbourne. Which is fine, because The Librarian is dying for a good coffee.

Except Uber Kid, the protégé who betrayed them and changed their game three years earlier, hiding ever since, remains elusive when they arrive. And the more people they question, the more trouble they stir, with a string of bodies and unanswered questions left in their wake. Leaving Kodiak just so damn tired and The Librarian frustrated, resorting to teaming up with Tiger Claw––her nemesis, who is just the worst.

Has someone else set them up, turning everyone in their profession against them, or is Uber Kid just messing with them, her revenge built over numerous years, their eventual demise an atonement for the job they never questioned?

The Melbourne Job is a fresh blend of Kōtarō Isaka (Bullet Train) and Carl Hiaasen (Bad Monkey) in a uniquely Australian setting, from the author of the Henry Herbert PI series.
