It's been a while between posts. Mostly because I've been writing and editing, editing and writing. For those who've been asking, Henry Herbert will be ready to return early February 2024, in Pay For Your Mistakes. I've almost completed the last major edit. The book will be roughly the same length as the first instalment (80 000 words). Want a sneak peak?
It's not much, I know, but here's the first... paragraph.
I quit teaching less than a year ago. It shouldn’t feel so unnatural to pull up to a school and ease into its car park. Not after nine years of service. It’s not even the school I taught at. Maybe it’s the context. I’m not here to educate children, to find the learning spark within them. I’m here to see my wife, a better teacher than I ever was, and tell her about a murder.
That's right, it picks up straight from the end of Bury Our Secrets, meaning Margaret River's about to get Herbert Week, The Sequel, whether they like it or not!
I'll keep you posted as we get closer to publication date. Have a great week!
